Caring for Dack’s Custom Grade Shoes

When people think of shoe care, polishing first comes to mind. However, using shoe trees is the most important thing one can do to maintain a good pair of leather-lined shoes. Wooden shoe trees made of an absorbent wood such as cedar should be inserted into the shoe immediately following every wearing.

The tree will absorb perspiration from the lining of the shoe, keeping it from cracking while helping to reduce the creasing of the upper. Using shoe trees on a daily basis will make shoes look and feel better, reduce odour and increase longevity.

Polishing on a regular basis is also important. Most Dack’s Custom Grade shoes are made from leathers which do not require special care; any good wax or cream polish will work. Shoes should be wiped clean before polishing. Leather cleaner or conditioner can also be used occasionally to keep the leather flexible. The most important part of leather care is to prevent the leather from losing its natural oils. These oils, which can be replenished by polishing, are the key to leather's flexibility and strength.

Owing to our strong devotion to quality, we are very particular about the leathers we use.  Only the finest grades of leather are selected for the crafting process.  We honestly believe that our attention to detail allows us to produce the finest leather shoes you'll find anywhere at any price.

All of the leathers that are used in our shoes are authorized for such use under the convention on the International Trade in Endangered species.

Dack's Re-Crafting

With proper care Dack’s shoes will give comfort,
value and service over a considerable time.
However when they eventually show wear
and you wish to extend the life of your Dack’s
shoes, we are able to offer a full re-crafting
service
.

On arrival your shoes are carefully inspected.

The soles and heels are removed along with the shanks and cork filler.

Our craftsmen start to rebuild the shoe using genuine components and reconstruct it to its original specifications with skill and care.

The new soles are fitted and stitched using the traditional Goodyear welted process prior to the new heels being attached.

The shoes are finally passed to the finishing room for cleaning and polishing. The shoes receive new heel seats and laces prior to being checked and placed in complimentary shoe travel bags.
